Hands-on Ministry
We at St. Alban's have done several things to make a difference in our outreach to others. For example: resettlement of Vietnamese refugees, IHNS program for homeless families and currently the VIP mentoring ministry at Chase Lake Elementary as well as long-time support to the Edmonds Food Bank, both with donating food and money.
The Hands-on Ministry Committee is a sub-group of the Outreach Committee. The philosophy behind hands-on ministry is to identify opportunities to volunteer to be part of an outreach effort in our community. These events are often one-day events and enable a volunteer to take part without having to set aside weeks or months to be involved. Instead of, or in addition to, simply writing a check (which is always good!), this ministry allows volunteers to hand out food at food banks, serve meals to those in need, prepare gift bags for servicemen and women at sea, gather clothes for kids, and buy holiday gifts for children who might not otherwise receive a gift during the holidays.
